Stylish Offerings at ENKNYC

NEW YORK—ENKNYC kicked off the menswear Spring/Summer 2012 season on July 17 and returned to the expansive The Tunnel space in New York's Chelsea neighborhood.

Organizer ENK International housed four shows in The Tunnel venue—Designers' Collective featuring contemporary menswear collections, Blue highlighting denim pieces, Tmrw showcasing new design talent, and Clean featuring personal grooming products and accessories.

Contemporary and traditional menswear offerings at ENKNYC included lightweight fabrications, an array of denim, pops of color and no shortage of prints with plaids and stripes dominating pieces.

Agave Denim owner and designer Jeff Shafer said the show was well-attended and continued to see Agave's established clients that span coast to coast. "We're following up on our woven shirts and have expanded the category and it's gotten a strong response," Shafer said. Classic button-down oxford and work shirts are updated in indigo lightweight denim. Agave denim is headquartered in Ridgefield, Wash. with operations in Los Angeles.

J Campbell Los Angeles, based in Culver City, Calif., which specializes in suiting and shirting that embody West Coast Americana and is found at retailers such as Nordstrom, has shown at ENKNYC for several seasons.

"The show speaks to the brands that are relevant especially for the new men's customer," said president and designer James Campbell. "We're truly a men's brand and it's the right environment for our generation."

A highlight of J Campbell's Spring/Summer 2012 collection is a sophisticated, relaxed short-sleeve shirt line that features a colorful but clean aesthetic.
