Denim According to Taylor Jacobson
At Project next week, Kasil will launch its denim collaboration with former assistant to celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe, Taylor Jacobson. Check out the full story here. Taylor was clueless about the mechanics of jeans before Kasil creative director David Lim took her to the sample sewers room and wash house.
Here is a further look at the collaboration where David provided the technical know-how to execute Taylor’s style sense and what else the stylist has been up to since exiting Team Zoe.
Matte black police patrol:
David: "She loves matte black. She kept on repeating to me over and over again because I like glossy black. And I had some glossy black [denim and hardware] in my [Kasil] stuff and I was like, ’How about this Taylor?’ And she was like, ’No. Matte black.’ So as you can see, matte black."

On not knowing how jean babies were made:
Taylor: "I still don’t understand. I feel like there has to be an easier way. Just stick them in the microwave. I had no idea. Like crazy. So crazy. I really legitimately had no idea. I don’t know why, I really thought that jeans, you just make them in the microwave. Which is weird because I’ve dealt with couture gowns and I’ve seen crazy pieces of fashion and clothing..."
David: "And you would think denim is so simple and easy."
Taylor: "But it’s not. At all."
These whiskers were not made in the microwave.
On adding denim designer to her resume:
Taylor: "I wanted to experience a lot of things. I felt like this was a really great opportunity to explore. The fact that I had no idea how much went into denim. But as we said, David and I have a really good relationship. We instantly hit it off. I wasn’t per se looking to become a denim expert, but with the opportunity that was presented to me, I jumped in and now I’m really enjoying it and I’m looking forward to developing more separates, more styles of jeans.
On life after Rachel Zoe:
Yeah, I’m still styling. I still do all of that. I have like 12 jobs. I have a blog for Everyday Minerals [organic, all-natural, cruelty-free makeup] that allows me to talk about new fashion obsessions—great restaurants, art exhibits, music, so that’s been exciting for me.
