New Resources Guide: Isabel Lu
Newcomer Isabel Lu launched for the Spring 2009 season with Satine in Los Angeles, Nordstrom Savvy and Indexx in Studio City, Calif., among the retailers carrying the line.
Sisters Sophia Kim and Jane Moon share a lifelong love of fashion and started working in their family’s apparel-manufacturing business at an early age. Kim subsequently designed for Isshu, Lucca and Haute Rags. With 12 years of design under her belt, Kim combined her eye for design with Moon’s business acumen, and Isabel Lu was born. Melding the art of fine tailoring and an appreciation for the art of design, they describe the line as “transcontinental fashion.”
Fall’s collection includes a range of beautiful cardigans in great shapes, tailored jackets and vests, silk tunics and tops, and an array of dresses that can be worn day and night. The palette for the Fall ’09 collection is comprised of rich, solid, jewel tones of deep orange, sapphire blues, magenta, gunmetal and rose gold, punctuated by some arresting prints. “Nature and an exotic bohemian way of life inspired the new collection,” Kim said. “The changing of leaves, the intricate patterns of wildlife and the ease of a romantic dance of subtlety embody the aesthetic for Fall 2009.”—Dena Smolek
