STAR Show to Bow January in L.A.

This January, Los Angeles will be home to a new biannual apparel trade show featuring men’s and women’s apparel.

Organized by Greentide FT Corp., the STAR show will bow Jan. 26–28 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The show has room for nearly 500 booths, and organizers are anticipating between 150 and 250 brands will exhibit, according to Greentide FT Vice President Sam Yoon. The cost for a 10-by-10 booth at the show is $1,250.

“Because of the price, most businesses will get two or three booths,” Yoon said.

Show producers have launched a direct-marketing campaign targeting 27,000 buyers from around the world, including representatives from department stores and large chains, as well as small boutiques.

“We had a good response from buyers,” Yoon said. “The decision to have the show in L.A. is good for them. They can see the clothing and then go buy accessories. You can find it all here in Los Angeles.”

Although the show is expected to include several West Coast exhibitors, organizers said they expect East Coast companies to exhibit as well. In addition, organizers said companies from China, Korea and South America have expressed interest in exhibiting at the January show.

Organizers plan to follow up the launch with a second show in June.
