Riley Adds Shoes
Los Angeles-based contemporary and children’s manufacturer Riley is launching a fashion-forward collection of footwear for women and children.
“Footwear is a logical progression for the Riley brand,” said Derek Banton, co-owner of Born Again Clothing, the parent company of Riley. “As Riley develops into a complete wardrobe concept, our customers are increasingly anxious for the next category.”
The shoe business is new territory for Los Angeles-based Born Again owners Derek and Greg Banton, who initially launched Riley three years ago by infusing Born Again’s recycled vintage apparel into a hip and trendy collection.
Riley’s women’s footwear collection uses modern fabrication to create vintage-looking styles. About 40 styles are included in the collection, ranging from leather sneaker-style granny boots to athletic yet casual leather slip-ons.
Designer Jeanine Mark created the collection using distressed leather, mesh and recycled denim, with embossed logos on the athletic styles. The collection is made in hues of maroon, palomino, olive and chocolate as well as black and ice.
With deliveries beginning 11/15, the collection will be sold through the company’s New York and Los Angeles showrooms. Wholesale price points range from $15 to $35. —Claudia Figueroa
