Quiksilver, Beach Bunny Open New Stores
In September, Quiksilver Inc. is scheduled to open the new 585 Boardriders concept store in Los Angeles’ bohemian and boardsports-crazy Venice Beach neighborhood, a Quiksilver executive confirmed. The store will offer all the Huntington Beach, Calif.–based company’s brands—including Roxy, DC Shoes, Mervin and core brand Quiksilver—under the same roof.
The concept was tested in the company’s flagship store in Capbreton, France. Translating the French store concept to Venice Beach received approval from Jeff Van Sinderen, an analyst for financial firm B. Riley & Co.
“It’s a great way to showcase all of their brands,” he said. Kids shopping for DC Shoes might also pick up a Quiksilver boardshort, too.
The 585 Boardriders will not only showcase the best of Quiksilver, it also will look to embrace a full potpourri of interests of boardsports enthusiasts. The 10,000-square-foot store, located at 585 N. Venice Blvd., will stock 500 surfboards as well as an art-gallery space. Also, the store will host community events such as such as mixed-martial-arts classes and performances by DJs and bands, a Quiksilver representative confirmed.
Another Orange County vertical retailer, Beach Bunny Swimwear of Newport Beach, Calif., is on a growth spurt. The company is hosting a grand-opening party on Aug. 18 for its new 1,700-square-foot boutique at the Malibu Lumber Yard mall in Malibu, Calif. On Aug. 7, Beach Bunny opened a boutique in Miami. In June, the company opened a store in Los Angeles’ Beverly Center. And in May, it debuted a store in the Scottsdale Quarter open-air retail area in Scottsdale, Ariz. The next stop is Las Vegas. Beach Bunny will open a store in the gambling mecca in September.
