The textile-and-trim event allows buyers to make low-minimum purchases, which is ideal for newcomers and private-label retailers. Most of the exhibitors are fabric mills, converters, importers and distributors.

The two-day event, held July 17-18 at the Penn Plaza Pavilion across the street from Penn Station in Manhattan, was attended by large brands including Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs and Karl Lagerfeld, as well as smaller labels.

A series of seminars were held, one being about how consumer trends influence design. It was moderated by Emilie Lewis, the director of events at the California Market Center in Los Angeles. The panel included Drew Villani, artistic director for Philip Lim; Hillary France, founder of the Brand Assembly trade show; and Hannah Polskin of ToBe branding/trend agency.
