Diane Merrick – Back in Fashion
Once you’re involved in fashion, you never really say goodbye.
Just ask Diane Merrick. The veteran Los Angeles retailer closed her celebrated Diane Merrick boutique earlier this year after more than four decades in business. But on July 15, she’s jumping back into the game. She and new business partner Randy Esada are scheduled to open a venture which includes his new boutique and her shop-in-shop, both will be located on the site of her former boutique space, 7407 Beverly Blvd. in Los Angeles.
Esada will take over two-thirds of the space with his shop Prospr on Beverly Blvd. The boutique will focus on antiques and homewares. Merrick will run Diane Merrick Vintage, which also will offer antiques, and cashmere, which had been a specialty during her career running her Diane Merrick boutique.
When Diane told me about her new gig, I couldn’t really help thinking, ‘After 45-years of boutique retail, you retired. What possessed you do it all over again?’
Well, once you’re involved in fashion, you never really say goodbye.
“I love people, I love selling and having people respond to my tastes,” she said.
