Burlington Opens in Downtown LA
After much revamping of a very run-down space, Burlington, also known as Burlington Coat Factory, recently opened a large store in downtown Los Angeles at the corner of 7th Street and Broadway.
The discount clothier has taken over a basement spot once occupied by Big Lots, known for its old merchandise at rock-bottom prices, as well as the main floor. The emporium, filled with clothing for men, women, children, maternity wear and home accessories, occupies some 40,000 square feet in an old building that once housed the Bullock's flagship store.
This particular area of downtown Los Angeles is attracting some big-chain retailers who specialize in modestly priced clothing. Just a few doors away on Broadway, Ross Dress-for-Less occupies a former Woolworth store, and another few doors down is a Gap Factory Store.
This is quite a contrast from the corner of Ninth Street and Broadway, which is home to some very high-end European and East Coast stores such as Acne Studios, A.P.C., Oak and Aesop, the Australian purveyor of skin and hair care products.
Who will be next to find out downtown Los Angeles is hopping with business?
