A.P.C. Store Opens Soon in DTLA
It's coming. It's coming.
Finally, there's an actual opening date for the much-awaited A.P.C. Store in downtown Los Angeles.
Sources with the company said the retail space is opening May 30, even though the construction workers admit there is a ton of work that still has to be done inside the space.
The workers were busy putting together the interior shelving and the large windows that will give shoppers a bird's eye view of the merchandise inside the outpost at 123-125 W. Ninth St., just two doors away from the hip Australian apothecary store Aesop. A.P.C. Store's Silver Lake emporium, at 3517 W. Sunset Blvd., is now scheduled to open some time in mid-June to July.
A.P.C. is joining a very high-end collection of contemporary retailers popping up in the Los Angeles Fashion District. They run from Acne Studios just doors away from A.P.C. to Oak, another high-end store a few doors down. Around the corner is Tanner Goods, a quality casual wear store based in Portland, Ore. BNKR, the trendy Australian fast-fashion brand, is opening its first U.S. store less than one block away from A.P.C. These retailers are all located one block away from the Ace Hotel.
A.P.C., which stands for Atelier de Production et de Creation, was founded in 1987 by Tunisian-born designer Jean Touitou. His clothes are known for their quality fabric and minimalist designs. Touitou was in Los Angeles last October when A.P.C.'s only California store celebrated its opening at 8420 Melrose Place. On hand was Kanye West, husband to Kim Kardashian.
