Sloane Rouge Hits the Arts District to Showcase Collections

Sloane Rouge is a relatively new Los Angeles contemporary label spun off from an old company.

Seth Boston, the president and director of Sloane Rouge, incubated the new venture from his father's offices at B. Boston & Associates, founded by Ben Boston some 47 years ago.

Early last year, Seth went independent, spinning off his new brand into a separate company with the contemporary looks debuting in February at ENKVegas. To showcase the label's past three seasons - Spring, Summer and Fall - Seth organized a small gathering at the Daily Dose Cafe on Industrial Street for fashion bloggers from sites such as Goop, PopSugar, Simply Stylist and Stuff She Likes. (If you haven't checked out the alleyway that makes up the outdoor dining area of the Daily Dose Cafe, you should.)

On hand were racks of clothes from the Spring, Summer and Fall collections that have been selling at Urban Outfitters, Free People and Anthropologie. Seth recently got a test order five weeks ago from Nordstrom. "Our customer is going to be 21 and over and can afford to spend money on quality clothing. ...She cares about what she wears," he said.

About 70 percent of the line is made in Los Angeles and the rest is manufactured in China and India with wholesale prices ranging from $24 to $74. There was lots of crochet, boho looks and tie-dyed tops.

Are we channeling the '70s?
