A.P.C. Now Open in DTLA
There is one intersection of downtown Los Angeles that is beginning to look a lot like Rodeo Drive.
Now that the French ready-to-wear store A.P.C. is open at 125 W. Ninth St., the corner of Ninth and Broadway is a place where you can spend some serious money on clothes. At A.P.C., a black knit dress costs $235 and a T-shirt is $110.
A.P.C., which in French stands for "Atelier de Production et de Creation" or "Production and Creation Workshop" opened its doors at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, said the store's manager, Andrew Doyle, who used to work at A.P.C.'s shop on Melrose Place.
The decor is definitely bare bones. Doyle noted that the interior in the downtown store has a more industrial look than the Melrose Place outpost, which relied on wood for many of its dramatic architectural features.
A.P.C. is known for its minimalist designs with clothes that have clean lines and a simple pattern. You may not know that A.P.C. also sells quilts and quilted pillows sewn out of last season's extra fabric.
A.P.C. is the latest upscale store to hit the hood, joining clothing stores Oak, Acne Studios and Tanner Goods and skin-care emporium Aesop.
