Nordstrom Rack to New LA County Location
Last year, Nordstrom closed its Nordstrom Rack off-price store in downtown Long Beach in late January.
The 33,000-square-foot space was one of the original tenants at Long Beach City Place when it opened as a discount shopping center in 2002, anchored by a Wal-Mart and a Ross Dress for Less.
But company execs were always positive they could find an alternative location for Long Beach shoppers who have no major department stores in the city.
Today, Nordstrom said it has found a new location in the more upscale Marina Pacifica mall located on Pacific Coast Highway and East Second Street, just blocks from the beach. It is taking over the space once occupied by a Loehmann's store, a discount chain that went bankrupt and then reinvented itself as an online destination.
The new store will encompass 24,000 square feet, slightly smaller than its old space, but there is plenty of free parking at the mall that has an AMC movie theater, a Barnes & Noble bookstore and a Ralphs grocery store.
The mall is located at one of the busiest traffic intersections in the city and is close to upscale neighborhoods.
