Hot Topic to Launch Cinderella Limited-Edition Collection
The fairy godmother in "Cinderella" waived a wand and created a beautiful ball gown for Cinderella, who wanted to attend a ball, where she met her Prince Charming.
Hot Topic waived its magic wand and created a limited-edition clothing collection based on the movie debuting in theaters on March 13.
There is a shorter version of Cinderella's gown - a knee-length blue corset ball gown, retailing for $64.50. There is also a striped knit top for $29.50, paired with a high-waisted skirt selling for $34.50 and a peasant sweetheart dress for $49.50. There are clock and carriage prints and glass slipper-imprinted hardware. The collection will be in stores and online Feb. 24, but pre-sales have already started.
"The collection has just enough twists to make it wearable, but is still a bit magical for our fan girl customer," said Cindy Levitt, senior vice president of merchandising and marketing at Hot Topic, based in City of Industry, Calif.
Hot Topic has done similar partnerships with Walt Disney, such as when the retail chain created a limited-edition collection for the "Sleeping Beauty" movie.
