Max Mara’s South Coast Plaza Dolce Vita

It was a perfect California day, shorts and T-shirt weather on Oct. 12. But it still felt like the right time to put on a winter mindset and view the stylish coats at the North American debut of the Max Mara’s Heritage Project Installation. It was a gallery-style display of the iconic fashion house’s coats from the 1950s to the present at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, Calif.

Maria Giulia Maramotti, the granddaughter of Max Mara founder Achille Maramotti, hosted the event with Fuchsia Kate Sumner, an actress, writer and fashion muse. After cocktails at South Coast Plaza’s Max Mara boutique, a gala 5-course meal was served at the Quattro Caffé. Argentine shrimp, Osso Buco, dolce and Sangue di Giuda wine were some of the delicacies on the menu. Before the party’s guests bid each other adieu, a musician led them in a lively sing-a-long of classic Italian song Volare.
