Tokidoki is a Los Angeles–based fashion and pop culture brand that celebrates lighthearted and quirky Japanese pop-culture, but on a more serious note, Tokidoki co-founder Pooneh Mohajer will be honored for her business leadership with the Deborah Award from the Anti-Defamation League. The 20th Annual Deborah Awards Dinner is scheduled for March 19 at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills.

Mohajer is one of a few fashion and beauty executives to receive the Deborah award. Others have been Suzi Weiss-Fischmann of nail company OPI Products; Taryn Rose of Taryn Rose footwear; and Kalika Nacion Yap, chief executive and founder of Citrus Studios Inc., Luxe Link and The Waxing Co.

Tokidoki’s work with the ADL started last year when Simone Legno, creative director and co-founder of Tokidoki, created a painting for the ADL’s campaign “A World Without Hate,” Mohajer said.

“Tokidoki has a message of love and happiness,” she said. “It resonates with the ADL’s message of a world without hate.”

The Deborah Award was inspired by the Biblical prophet Deborah, who was renowned for her courage and wisdom. “In being a female entrepreneur, it takes a lot of courage to keep what we’re doing,” Mohajer said.

Mohajer also said it was humbling to be recognized with the distinguished honorees who were being given the Deborah Award. They include Lisa Bloom, a legal analyst who gives commentary for NBC News; Fung Der, managing director and regional executive for the Greater Los Angeles region of U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management; and Liane Weintraub, co-founder of Tasty Brand Inc., an organic-food company.

Tokidoki started in 2005 and it developed a cult following for Legno’s graphics and collaborations. This year, Tokidoki will introduce a collaboration with Major League Baseball and will offer caps, phone accessories, lanyards, jewelry, stationery, and mugs featuring team logos and Tokidoki characters.

It also will debut a vinyl statuette of Karl Lagerfeld, which will be sold at the star designer’s London boutique, which is scheduled to open in mid-March.
