Gap, Grove Debut Best New Menswear Designers
Musician Jake Simpson played 1970s pop-funk hits and Umami Burger sliders were served at a Sept. 24 party at the Gap store at Los Angeles retail center The Grove.
The event celebrated the Gap’s second exclusive menswear collection designed by GQ magazine’s four “Best New Menswear Designers” in America for 2013.
The designers and labels featured in the limited-edition Gap x GQ Best New Menswear Designers in America Collection were Aviator Nation, headquartered in Venice, Calif.; Baldwin, based in Kansas City; New York’s Bespoken; and Ernest Alexander, also of New York. Glossy men’s magazine GQ publishes an annual section, “Best New Menswear Designers in America,” to showcase emerging designers.
“We were very excited to collaborate with such a bright group of emerging designers,” said Tony Kretten, Gap vice president of global menswear design, in a company statement. “Their unique points of view really complement Gap’s casual American style.”
Retail price points range from $30 to $348 for this GQ/Gap collection. Pieces include hats, belts, ties, backpacks graphic tees, shirting, pants, denim, blazers and waxed field jackets.
