Pantone Cites LA Designers in Spring 2014 Color Forecast

LA designers Trina Turk, Tadashi Shoji and Lubov Azria were just some of the creative people cited by Pantone when the color-trend forecast company came out with its palette of Spring 2014 colors, just in time for New York Fashion Week.

For Spring, we will be seeing adaptable pastels counterbalanced by vivid hues that play well together. There is a placid blue, a vintage purple and an ornamental green called hemlock representing the pastels. They are paired with a neutral sand color, a light gray called Paloma and a high-pitched red that is as vibrant as cayenne pepper.

Spring's color palette is brought full circle with a brilliant orchid hue and a dazzling blue which is the polar opposite of placid blue.

Tadashi Shoji said the predominant colors this Spring in his mix of dresses and gowns are white and lavender, white and frosted jade and white and antique pink. Shoji feels white is the most important color for Spring.

Lubov Azria of BCBGMaxAzria said cool chambrays and shades of pink feature predominantly in her Spring collection. There is also black and light gray, which set the back drop for colorful prints.

Trina Turk, known for her vivid California-dreaming colors, used pops of bold color for Spring, including ultramarine, clementine and azalea. She also incorporated a stark black-and-white graphic mix as well as sun-bleached, washed-down brights, mixed with chambray, black and white
