Social Accountability International (SAI), has named Eileen Fisher executive Amy Hall chair of the New York–based organization, founded to advance human rights at work.

Since 1997, SAI has made it its mission to “advance the human rights of workers and to eliminate sweatshops by promoting ethical working conditions, labor rights, corporate social responsibility and social dialogue.” The organization provides supply-chain management and corporate social-responsibility training to companies in a number of industries, including apparel, footwear, agriculture, electronic assembly and light manufacturing. SAI created the SA8000 standard, which is used in more than 3,000 factories in 66 countries across 65 industrial sectors, according to the organization. As chair of SAI’s advisory board, Hall will promote the SA8000 standard within the textile and apparel industry, as well as other industry sectors.
