American Eagle Outfitters’ Tech Executives Set Up Shop in San Francisco
Northern California is the place to be if you want technological innovation.
With that in mind, American Eagle Outfitters has opened its first corporate offices in San Francisco to reinforce the company’s omni-channel strategy.
The office, at 29 Stevenson St., will support engineers, designers and digital-marketing teams to work on a personalized consumer shopping experience across all channels.
About a dozen people will be working at the nearly 10,000-square-foot office, and the company is planning on hiring as many as 100 new employees over the next 12 months to grow and develop its omni-channel innovations.
“We are investing heavily in the top talent San Francisco and the Bay Area have to offer and recognize the strategic value of being close to our technology partners in the area,” said Joe Megibow, senior vice president/general manager of omni-channel e-commerce and head of the San Francisco office.
In addition, American Eagle announced it is participating in San Francisco Mayor Edwin Lee’s “Summer Jobs+ 2013” initiative to create 6,000 jobs and paid internships for area youth this summer.
Several of the employees at American Eagle’s store at the Westfield San Francisco Centre on Market Street come from the program.
