Dosa Clothing Designer Heads to Santa Monica Art Museum
Los Angeles-based Christina Kim is more than a clothing designer. She is also an environmentalist and an eco-conscious creator of clothes you can feel comfortable in.
Kim, whose line is called Dosa, is back at the Santa Monica Museum of Art's gift store, starting July 13, with her latest collection that draws inspiration from Joshua Tree National Park, located in the desert northeast of Los Angeles.
In a gift store presentation called "Dosa at SMMoA: Exploring Joshua Tree," Kim is opening a temporary shop within the shop as well as an art installation. There will be brightly colored clothing, accessories and housewares from her Summer 2013 collection. Think bright green silk dresses and wildly colorful African wax print pants.
The art installation and shop will be open from July 13 through August 17. This year, five percent of sales will go to the Joshua Tree National Park and the rest will go to support the museum's exhibitions and programs.
Last year, Kim and her Dosa collection helped raise $30,000 for the museum, which is located at Bergamot Station at 2525 Michigan Ave.
