Deal Hunting at Offprice
LAS VEGAS—Exhibitors at the OffPrice show were pleased with the turnout at the Feb. 17–20 show at the Sands Expo & Convention Center.
Indeed, the aisles of OffPrice were crowded with buyers looking for deals.
“Price dictates everything,” said David Hyman, owner of City of Industry, Calif.–based Fast Turn Imports. Hyman knows the off-price business well. Before launching Fast Turn, he owned the off-price retail chain Susie’s Deals. Fast Turn is Hyman’s new off-price wholesale operation, importing juniors and plus-size merchandise. He also runs three stores in Southern California under the nameplate Fashion Rush.
Hyman said Nordstrom Rack and “all the discounters” shopped the show.
This was the second time showing at OffPrice for Los Angeles–based Gazoz, which has been producing denim, tops, dresses and cut-and-sew knits for 30 years. The company produces in downtown Los Angeles and in China, said Mark Manshoory. Among Gazoz’s denim offerings for juniors are plus-size prints and rhinestone trim.
“For plus size, we offer all the same trends as juniors,” Manshoory said.
The Gazoz booth was showing the collection to a steady stream of buyers. “It’s been busy," Manshoory said, adding that buyers looking for smaller quantities are finding better service at the OffPrice show rather than one of the other trade shows.
