Hilfiger Opens Robertson Flagship
After well-reviewed shows at New York Fashion Week, Tommy Hilfiger traveled to California to open his West Coast flagship at 157 N. Robertson Blvd., which formerly housed A/X Armani Exchange. Hilfiger had not been part of the Los Angeles boutique scene for what is an eternity in shoppers’ minds. The Hilfiger brand closed its boutique on Rodeo Drive in 2000.
The new flagship, called Tommy Hilfiger West Hollywood, was the site of a gala party
Feb. 13. The store featured Tommy Hilfiger’s recent style of U.S. prep meets U.K. tailoring. The store also features displays of the Tommy Hilfiger brand’s long history, including a Hilfiger sweater worn by music icon Michael Jackson.
Also on display are a collection of men’s tuxedos that Hilfiger designed for red-carpet events, the Tommy Hilfiger label’s men’s and women’s runway collections, childrenswear, swimwear, bags, footwear, sunglasses, watches, and fragrance.
The Tommy Hilfiger brand is owned by New York–based PVH Corp., formerly known as Phillips-Van Heusen Corp.
Robertson Boulevard remains one of Los Angeles’ most high-profile shopping streets. Hilfiger’s new Robertson neighbors include boutiques for Ralph Lauren, Tory Burch, Chanel, Intermix and Kitson. Veteran commercial real estate broker Chuck Dembo, partner at Dembo Realty of Beverly Hills, said retailers make efforts to stay on Robertson. “It weathered the recession well, and it came back a little stronger than other areas. There are few vacancies.”
