Interior Design Tweaks Made at the Gerry Building
Apparel company owner Shawn Far bought the Gerry Building in late August for $14.5 million, and already you can see some of the first improvements being made.
Many of the doors that separate the stairwells and halls in the building have been painted black and given oval-shaped windows to create a sophisticated air for the Streamline Moderne structure built in the late 1940s.
The lobby now has a flat-screen smart TV.
And Far is experimenting with putting small kitchens in the showrooms, starting with his own sixth-floor showroom for his licensed activewear line Playboy Sport. In addition, he is adding a shower to the showroom's bathroom.
Eventually, the cement floors will be covered with hardwood floors, said Glenn Zipagan, head of maintenance at the building located in the heart of the Los Angeles Fashion District at 910 S. Los Angeles St.
Undoubtedly there will be many more changes to come.
