Get ready for a radiant year. Radiant Orchid, that is. That’s the word from Pantone, which announced its 2014 color of the year: Radiant Orchid (18-3224).
According to the color forecaster, “Radiant Orchid blooms with confidence and magical warmth that intrigues the eye and sparks the imagination. It is an expressive, creative and embracing purple—one that draws you in with its beguiling charm. A captivating harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid emanates great joy, love and health.”
I’m not sure what Pantone is trying to say with this image, which contains a purple hot dog, a purple baguette and set of chattering teeth, but anything that emanates great joy, love and health sounds like a great way to kick off a new year.
Designers who saw the radiant trend coming are already emailing me— including Voda Swim and Arthur and Livingston.
