A Current Affair's Market for Vintage Looks
Sure, Los Angeles is a jeans town, and it’s a town for red carpet gowns. But vintage is also a key ingredient for fashion in the City of Angels, A Current Affair, a pop-up vintage marketplace co-founded by influential vintage mavens Richard Wainwright of New/Found and Joey Grana of Scout, will take place Dec. 7 at the Cooper Design Space in downtown Los Angeles' Fashion District.
The vintage bazaar will showcase more than 30 premier vintage retailers and dealers in vintage apparel, jewelry and accessories. Items sold at the market will feature retail price points ranging $30 to $3,000.
There will be an open bar, music by KCRW DJ Marion Hodges and a holiday gift market focusing on handmade goods curated by Joanna Williams of Kneeland Co. Mercado.
Wainwright said that the upcoming show is focused on relevant, wearable vintage from all eras. But currently trending in vintage styles are 1990s designer and some 1960s silhouettes and handmade pieces, Grana said. Some retailers at the show will include Rococo Vintage, Sweet as Vintage Boutique, the Native American jewelry of Gypsy Hunter and the eyewear of Allyn Scura.
