Agenda Hire Marks New Focus on Women's
The Los Angeles–based Agenda trade show is looking to expand its women’s offerings and hired former Insight executive Vanessa Chiu as director of women’s sales and marketing.
Drawing on her eight years’ experience as marketing and PR manager for the U.S. division of the Australian surf/lifestyle brand, Chiu’s job is to build partnerships with women’s brands and cultivate a strong female presence at Agenda’s three biannual shows in Long Beach and New York, as well as its newest edition in Las Vegas.
In August, Agenda will launch its first Las Vegas trade show, joining a branding partnership with five other trade shows under the name Modern Assembly.
“There are a lot of exciting things bubbling ... in the very near future,” Chiu said. “Modern Assembly is taking place this August in Las Vegas, [where] a great strategic alliance with Agenda, Capsule, Liberty, MRket, AccessoriesTheShow and Stitch will join forces to curate over 2,500 brands at the lovely Venetian hotel.”
Chiu will further develop Agenda’s philosophy to create a home base for brands and buyers in the sports, streetwear and lifestyle market. She will also be developing a digital platform that will serve as a hub for creative types to market and illustrate emerging trends.
“The Agenda show is not just a trade show but a lifestyle brand. I envision the Agenda digital platform will be viewed as a resource to provide year-round ‘insider’ info to soak up the freshest bits, [such as] up-to-date industry news, seasonal inspiration, creative marketing, brand history and more,” Chiu said.
