LA Fashion Week Spring 2013: Mike Vensel
Mike Vensel, founder of Concept Fashion Week LA, debuted his eponymous collection to close the Oct. 13 event at Siren Studios. Vensel continued his play on minimalism for Spring ’13. Titled “Exodus,” the collection was inspired by the idea of “mass migration in search of a better life and religious freedom.” The collection continues where his previous collection left off in ancient Egypt. He melded his signature minimalist silhouettes with monastic elements.Models wore hoods, capes and veils to play on the religious theme. Dresses in silk chiffon and charmeuse were long and austere in black, white and deep purple. Easy-to-wear daytime looks came in feminine, body-hugging shapes. Unexpected bright pops of blue accented the collection to capture the colors of the Mediterranean.—N. Jayne Seward
