LA Fashion Week Spring 2013: African Fashion Week LA
The second night of Africa Fashion Week LA, held Oct. 12 at Papillion Institute of Art, opened with a pair of dancers performing traditional Nigerian moves.
Fashions on the runway included African prints and patterns in Los Angeles–based AfriChic Designs’ silk and linen ready-to-wear and gowns and in Dallas-based Nana Osei’s flirty dresses and elegant gowns.
Batani Khalfani showed foil-printed jersey dresses and swimwear, and New York–based Rue 114 paid homage to Stephen Sprouse with its brightly colored print jacket. The show also featured 31 Bits jewelry made by displaced women from Northern Uganda.
