Lucky Hosts West Coast Edition of Its FABB Conference
Lucky magazine headed west recently for its FABB: Fashion and Beauty Blogger Conference. The event took place on April 30 at the Annenberg Community Beach House in Santa Monica, Calif.
The day was jam packed with high-profile designers, celebs and bloggers. Zac Posen, Randi Zuckerberg, Elizabeth Banks and Jessica Alba headlined the event, which gave the day-long event a West Coast perspective on fashion, entertainment, beauty and the business of blogging.
“It’s a uniqueness, it’s a different voice than the East Coast, it’s a different creativity level, it’s a different vibe,” said Lucky Vice President and Publisher Marcy Bloom. “Our brand does really well in both and, we believe, speaks really well to both coasts—and the middle as well. We thought that was a fresh perspective on listening to and connecting to the bloggers that are here.”
The event, which was presented by P&G Beauty and Grooming, gave bloggers a change to connect with brands including Samsung, Zappos.com, Miss Me, LeSportsac and Jellypop. A cocktail party at the House of Zappos and a performance by A Fine Frency topped off the jam-packed day of events.
Keynote speakers and informative panels with blogging experts weighed in on topics such as “What Hollywood Can Teach Fashion,” “How I Became an Entrepreneur” and “How Brands Work With Blogs.” “Mad Men” costume designer Janie Bryant and actress Kiernan Shipka spoke style, and J Brand Chief Executive Officer and co-founder Jeff Rudes shared his expertise on branding and blogging.
Panelists included Kate Somerville, CEO and founder of Kate Somerville Skincare; Andrea Lieberman, founder and creative director of A.L.C; Soleil Moon Frye, social-media expert, entrepreneur, eco-leader and author; Katherine Power and Hillary Kerr, co-founders of WhoWhatWear; Geri Hirsch, founder of Because I’m Addicted; Gabrielle de Papp, vice president, corporate public relations, for Neiman Marcus; and Vanessa Flaherty, director of brand development at Digital Brand Architects.—N.
