H&M’s Larsson Joins Old Navy
San Francisco–based Gap Inc. announced Stefan Larsson, a veteran executive for Swedish retailer Hennes & Mauritz (H&M), will be the first global brand president for Gap’s Old Navy division.
At H&M, Larsson was responsible for the fast-fashion retailer’s rollout in the West Coast of the United States. He also worked in merchandising, planning and production for the company. His experience is vital as Gap prepares to build more Old Navy stores overseas. The company will open its first Old Navy location in Japan in July, said Glenn Murphy, Gap’s chairman and chief executive. “Stefan understands Old Navy’s unique brand positioning and significant potential for future growth in North America and around the world,” Murphy said. “Given his accomplishments, product insights and global outlook, Stefan’s vast experience not only benefits Old Navy but will help Gap Inc. on multiple levels. He’s a strong addition to our senior management team.”
In January, former Old Navy chief Tom Wyatt resigned. Larsson will join the company later this year. Until then it will be directed by Nancy Green, Old Navy’s executive vice president and chief creative officer, and Tom Sands, Old Navy’s executive vice president of stores and operations.—A.A.
