Gemelli means twins in Italian, but a singular men’s clothing brand called Gemelli opened a new boutique on Los Angeles at 307 N. Robertson Boulevard.
Gemelli President Farhad Heidari presided over the shop’s grand opening debut shindig May 2, which was attended by Jaleel White, of Dancing With the Stars, and for you ’80s pop culture fiends, the Family Matters sitcom.
Farhad said Gemelli is on a mission. First, it intends to build a men’s clothing brand with a West Coast vibe, think lighter weight fabrics and different colorways. It also means to re-introduce the suit and the blazer to guys who have been wearing denim all of their lives. “Gemelli has an Italian integrity, but an American sensibility,” Heidari said. “With younger guys spending a lot of money on sportswear, we thought that we needed a product line that keeps sensitivity on price.” Retail price points range from $175 to $195 for woven shirts, $695 to $795 for jackets and $75 for scarves.
Manuel Jackson, a stylist, founder of Ekquality Style Haus, and Gemelli brand ambassador, said Gemelli gracefully mixes tradition and new looks.“It has a stylish appeal, but it is not over the top,” Jackson said.
Gemelli’s colorful looks and value might be tested in spots off of Robertson soon. Heidari said his company is considering opening more Gemelli concept shops.
