Octavio Carlin

Octavio Carlin counted Ancient Egyptian culture and art deco as influences for his Fall 2012 line for his self-named Octavio Carlin line, but he also looked to find new angles and looks for cocktail dresses and gowns during  his 38-piece runway show March 15 at Style Fashion Week LA at Vibiana.

Many of the pieces in his line did not use zippers. Others were constructed out of a jersey material and a silk jersey blend, which, he said, would help keep the prices of the dresses down. Suggested retail price points ranged from $200 to $1,500 for the form-fitting gowns, which used color schemes of black, white, electric blue, fuchsia and leopard print.—Andrew Asch
