Stay at a job for more than a few years, they call you a veteran. Well, meet Fred Gutierrez. On July 12, he celebrated 30-years of employment with Jimmy Au’s For Men 5’8 and Under in Beverly Hills, which held an informal and convivial champagne party in his honor.
It’s an unbelievable tale for the post 1980s world where Jimmy Au’s seems to fit in fine. The family owned and run Jimmy Au’s is one of the few fashion boutiques in the United States specializing in getting the right fit for guys, please spare the jokes, who are the same size as actors Al Pacino and Seth Green.
Gutierrez, Au’s store manager and buyer, greeted longtime friends and clients during the party despite a blackmail worthy moment.Store Vice President Alan Au held up 30-year-old pictures ofGuitierrez in disco suits. Survivors of the Saturday Night Fever era would be proud.
It was all good fun and the longtime store manager and buyer explained why he never considered getting another job.
“I stopped working the day I started here,” he said. “It’s not work. I love helping my customers. I love what I do,” he said. It’s exactly what a career should be Fred.
