Skaters had even more reason to celebrate this Fourth of July, as the long-awaited Nike SBx Levi's 511 Skateboarding Team Edition Jeans dropped yesterday. Only 2,000 pairs of the limited edition jeans were made, and only 55 stores will carry them.
Pro skater Omar Salazar, one of many pro skaters sponsored by Nike SB, first tweeted about the pants in February, stating “Just now leaving Portland from a Nike meeting 4 our LEVI'S NIKE project!!! Get ready for the best jeans to SK8 in!”
The high-performance jeans are made specifically for skateboarding and feature durable Vectran fiber, Nike's Dri Fit technology for staying cool and Levi’s eco-friendly Waterless manufacturing process. There are two versions of the jeans and several washes.
Levis and Nike also worked with Salazar to produce a special edition of his skate shoe, the Omar Salazar LR, which was released the same day. An accompanying denim Trucker jacket is expected to debut August 1.
