D&G Leaves Robertson Boulevard
The D&G flagship store on Los Angeles’ high-profile shopping street Robertson Boulevard quietly shuttered in early January.
Dallas-based luxury footwear and apparel retailer Gregory’s will move into the more than 6,800-square-foot space at 147 N. Robertson Blvd. in the next three months, said Scott Schuster, the real estate agent who brokered the deal.
Representatives for D&G’s parent label, Dolce & Gabbana, did not return phone calls and an email requesting comment.
The Robertson store may be a casualty of the new direction of the celebrated Dolce & Gabbana fashion house, based in Italy. News broke in September 2011 that Dolce & Gabbana would fold its more casual, urban D&G label into its larger line and that D&G’s Spring 2012 line would be the last outing for the flamboyant label.
The Robertson D&G flagship debuted in December 2008 with a party as colorful as its guest list. Oscar-nominated actor Josh Brolin made an appearance at the boutique, which was outfitted with burgundy carpets and walls lined with chrome.
Gregory’s has maintained a footwear and handbag store at Fred Segal Melrose since November 2010. It currently runs an exclusive five-store chain with other locations in Dallas, Houston, Las Vegas and Atlanta.
For women’s shoes, it offers brands such as Alexander McQueen and Dior. For women’s apparel, it retails labels such as Balmain and D Squared. For men’s apparel, it offers brands such as Great China Wall, Sand and Moschino. —Andrew Asch
