Dr Pepper has a new ad campaign that comes with a customizable tee. According to MediaBistro’s Agency Spy blog, the soda company kicked off its “One of a Kind” campaign with a TV commercial that aired last night during the national championship game.
Created by Deutsch LA, the ad features an average white guy inspired by a swig of Dr Pepper to disrobe, Clark Kent style, to reveal his “I’m One of a Kind Tee.” He is soon joined by other red shirts proclaiming everything from “I’m a Cougar” to “I’m a Rockstar.” The ad ends with a woman in an I’m a Pepper” shirt—recalling the iconic ’70s ad featuring actor David Naughton and an earworm jingle.
On the Dr Pepper website, you can create your own shirt (after providing the company with lots of valuable marketing information, of course).
Agency Spy, asks whether a consumer could declare himself “I'm a Coke loyalist," but the company already thought of that. There's a little disclaimer at the bottom of the page that reads:
“My declaration does not contain another party’s name or trademark and does not include hateful, obscene, or offensive language. I understand Dr Pepper reserves the right to refuse my declaration for any reason, as decided in their sole discretion.”
