Conde Nast’s Florio to Lead Fashion at MAGIC and Project

The organizers of MAGIC in Las Vegas announced that Tom Florio, former Condé Nast executive and Vogue publishing director, will become chief executive of Advanstar Fashion Group.

Florio will lead Advanstar’s fashion trade shows, which include MAGIC and Project, two of the largest fashion trade shows in the United States.

Joe Loggia, Advanstar’s chief executive, said Florio will take these two shows in new directions. “The anatomy of the fashion business is changing from supply chain to mobile commerce,” Loggia said. “Our goal is to expand our platform in these areas and provide a marketplace where all businesses that touch fashion connect.”

Florio was credited with building new media ventures for Vogue, which included ShopVogue.com and VogueTV. His understanding of new directions for media and communication will help Advanstar build new strategic partnerships, Loggia said.

Advanstar also announced that Chris DeMoulin has taken on added responsibilities as executive vice president of customer development and president of licensing. In this new role, DeMoulin will lead efforts to connect Advanstar’s customers to global licensing platforms. In 2008, DeMoulin was named vice president of Advanstar’s Fashion Group.
