Manhattan Beachwear Lands Top-Sider Swim License
Cypress, Calif.–based Manhattan Beachwear Inc. struck a licensing deal with Sperry Top-Sider for a line of men’s and women’s swimwear under the Sperry Top-Sider Swim label.
The collection will debut at the Miami Swim Show in Miami Beach, Fla., in July for the Resort 2013 season
The collection will follow Sperry Top-Sider’s design aesthetic, which is “inspired by men and women who share Sperry’s passion for the sea and the nautical lifestyle.”
“The ability to express the Sperry lifestyle into swimwear for both men and women is very exciting,” said Brenda West, president of Manhattan Beachwear. “Swimwear is a natural extension for the brand, and the collections will emphasize print, color, detail, fit and Sperry’s unique sensibility. We believe we can bring newness and innovative styling to the competitive swim and resort/coverup category.”
The women’s collection will feature a mix of separates, including bikinis, one-pieces and coverups. The men’s line will include swim trunks, boardshorts, T-shirts and hoodies. Both collections will be sold at specialty and department stores, as well as Sperry Top-Sider–branded stores.
Manhattan Beachwear designs, manufactures and markets swimwear and apparel under licenses for Kenneth Cole New York, Kenneth Cole Reaction, Ralph Lauren, Lauren Ralph Lauren, Trina Turk, Nanette Lepore, ABS, Puma, Modern Amusement, Sofia by Vix, Hermanny by Vix and Hobie, as well as its own brands—La Blanca, 2Bamboo, 24th & Ocean, The Bikini Lab and Maxine of Hollywood.—Alison A.
