Keeping Dane's Spirit Alive
At the edge of the lobby of the recent Action Sports Retailer Trade Expo, the family of Dane Chandler Williams sat in a vigil hoping to find answers on the unsolved death of the 23-year-old Hurley intern.
Williams disappeared after a party during the January 2008 run of ASR. Shortly after the disappearance, his body was found, wrapped in a blanket in an alley in the City Heights neighborhood of San Diego. The city's police are still investigating, but the clues have not led police one step closer to finding how Williams died.
Williams' family believes this case can still be solved. They staffed a small booth located at the trade show's lobby where they greeted well-wishers and hoped to find the key to unlock this mystery. 'The point of being here is to generate answers,' said Brent Davis, boyfriend of Williams' sister Hayley. 'Even a smallest clue could lead to a break.'
By the last day of the show, the family heard one new rumor on Williams death that they turned over to police. The family also distributed white wristbands with the motto `Keeping Dane's Spirit Alive.' Williams former employer, Hurley, helped produce the memorial effort. People wearing the wristbands could use them to get a free pedicab ride back to their hotels after ASR parties.Anyone who has tips regarding Dane Chandler Williams death are asked to contact San Diego police's Sgt. William Stetson at (619) 531-2455.
