’The Other by Cheryl Koo’ Bows
Designer Cheryl Koo produced the first fashion show for The Other by Cheryl Koo, her art-inspired line, March 21 at Kesspro Studios in downtown Los Angeles. The runway show displayed 50 contemporary and avant-garde looks for men and women. One women’s look was a cocktail dress with a quilted skirt made out of satin polyester material reminiscent of a raincoat.
Koo said her signature looks, skirts aside, can be found in her line’s exaggerated pockets, collars and hoods. Many of these pieces were detachable and could be used with various Koo garments. “I like to mix fabrics that don’t fit or have a specific style, just to see what comes out of it,” she said of her line’s sense of experimentation. The show also featured seven looks from Koo’s Canvas Collaboration line that feature long dresses bearing the graphics of new visual artists.—Andrew Asch
