Putting a Little Heart & Soul Into a Good Cause
A look for the recent HeartSoul collection
Fashion has many uses.
For the people who make the HeartSoul juniors label, it's a way to raise money for a worthy endeavor.
I bumped into Paula Schneider, the new chief executive of Big Strike Inc., parent company of HeartSoul, and her colleague Monique Large. They told me they are supporting a group called the Women's Journey Conference, which is holding its first fashion show fund-raiser to send underprivileged young women and teen-agers to a one-day May 19 conference at University of California Irvine. The conference is meant to boost women's self-esteem. Many of these women are in foster care.
HeartSoul is donating all the fashion for the runway show, which will have 14 volunteer teen models. Also, HeartSoul execs have raised $500 for the cause.
The fundraiser takes place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday at the Mesa Verde Country Club in Costa Mesa. Tickets are $50 per guest. "The whole goal is to allow these young girls in foster care to see positive role models to help them become successful adults," Large said.
