Street style is hot, hot, hot. If you live in the fashionsphere, then you’d have to be living under a rock not to know. And now what’s being worn on the street is turning into cyber savvy shopping and cash for e-tailers.
Style.com has partnered with NET-A-PORTER.COM and American Express to launch “NY Street Seen.” The new shopping platform allows fashionistas to shop instantly for their favorite looks worn by New York Fashion Week attendees as captured by famed street photographer Tommy Ton.
Street style blogs such as Jak Jil, The Sartorialist and The Face Hunter have been building followers for years. Enter stylish editors such as Anna Dello Russo, and top bloggers - think Hanneli Mustaparta and Bryan Boy - who have become some of the most photographed personalities during fashion week. What is being worn on the street and to the shows is becoming just as important as what is being shown on the runway. It’s not just about having celebs sitting in the front row any more. Designers are starting to take notice seeking out bloggers to wear their clothes in ad campaigns, at the shows and on the street.
So there was bound to come a time when designers and e-tailers would cash in. Enter Style.com and NET-A-PORTER’s insta-shop invention. “NY Street Seen Spotted by Tommy Ton” is a revolutionary shopping platform. Shoppers can interpret and purchase their favorite street style look while sitting in the comfort of their own home. As a bonus, American Express is offering $100 off purchases of $500 or more to shoppers.
Now that is some street savvy.
