Dockers, Designers Team Up for Limited-Edition Khakis

San Francisco–based Levi Strauss & Co. tapped six U.S. menswear lines for a limited-edition collection for its Dockers brand, created in partnership with GQ and the Council of Fashion Designers of America.

Los Angeles labels Riviera Club and Warriors of Radness designed head-to-toe khaki looks for Dockers, as did Alexander Wang, Miller’s Oath, Patrik Ervell and Michael Bastian. The six represent the nominees for GQ’s Best New Menswear Designers in America project, as well as the winner, Wang.

The GQ Best New Menswear Designers in America x Dockers collection will be introduced at a Fashion’s Night Out event at Bloomingdale’s in New York. The full collection of khaki looks will be available for sale at Bloomingdale’s and online at www.bloomingdales.com and www.dockers.com.

To research their looks, the designers were allowed to review the private Levi Strauss & Co. archives at Levi’s San Francisco headquarters with Doug Conklyn, Dockers’ senior vice president of global design, and the Dockers design team. The archive includes vintage Levi Strauss & Co. khaki and chino styles, with some dating back to the 1920s.

The Best New Menswear Designers in America project was founded by GQ and the CFDA in 2008. This is the first year Dockers has participated in the event. This is also the first year the nominees created a collection in conjunction with the project.—Alison A. Nieder
