Bryan Hearns Spring 2012
Designer Bryan Hearns found inspiration in L.A. culture for his Spring collection, which bowed at Concept Los Angeles Fashion Week at ACE Gallery on Oct. 15. “My inspiration was West Coast rap from the ’90s—like NWA—meets cholos in East L.A.,” Hearns said.
The result on the runway was a glam version of streetwear that mixed slim trousers with exaggerated tuxedo stripes and feather-trimmed minis.
Several of Hearns’ tops featured meticulously engineered slashes. The designer also used his fabrications in unusual ways. A traditional knit pique was used for a sporty yet flirty peplum top paired with a feathered skirt, and sheer mesh fabrics were embellished with intricate appliqueacute;s.—Alison A. Nieder
