F2 Runway Show Spring 2012
The F2 Runway shows always exhibit an independent streak, but the three designers presenting at F2 at the Focus Trade Show Oct. 17 at the California Market Center also showed a decidedly feminine look.
The show’s first label, Beverly Hills, Calif.–based Linden, went for a 1980s-style feminine look with its eight Spring 2012 pieces. The line’s T-shirts and some of its leggings sported a bright “acid” yellow color. To finesse the 1980s inspiration, some of the T-shirts were distressed.
The collection also included leggings constructed from lace and lambskin leather. Some of the leggings bore perforations, which sported a 1980s New Wave style.
Based in Los Angeles’ Little Osaka neighborhood, the Joi by Jewel Oribe line showed eight looks, mostly dresses bearing a vintage Western look intended for beach walks or hiking in the mountains, said designer Shiho Oribe.
Some dresses featured fringe with wood beads. Others exhibited gold piping. Although most dresses fell around the mid-thigh, a maxi-dress featured a plunging neckline and high slit.
Philippines-based Pia Perey showed mostly full-length dresses in her Spring/Resort 2012 collection, with a draping reminiscent of classical Greek statues. Some crepe fabric and some silk were used in the form-fitting dresses, but most were constructed out of a slinky jersey material.Perey’s cocktail dresses and gowns were styled with the jewelry of Linya Disenyo, a Philippines-based designer who also collaborates frequently with Perey.—Andrew AschPhotos from the event can be found here.
