Hi Everyone!
“Dancing With the Stars,” elimination night no. 5: THE FUN HAS LEFT THE BUILDING!
The night started out with a dance performance by the professional dancers of the Troupe to the Queen of ’80s dance pop Madonna. They performed to “Like a Virgin” and “Like a Prayer” with a full choir. WOW!

There were other performances, including “American Idol” winner Kelly Clarkson, who performed “Mr. Know It All” from her recent album, and country group The Band Perry, who sang their hit “If I Die Young.” The Perry Band was accompanied by a smoldering dance performance by Karina Smirnoff and Louie Van Amstel.

This season, producers introduced a new (sponsored) segment on the show. The ATT Spotlight Performance features a person whose life has been greatly influenced by dancing. Charm Ladonna grew up in Compton, Calif., and went on to become a professional dancer. She now teaches dance to the young kids in her community. She performed with Mark Ballas and Derek Hough. Her story was very touching.

Finally, we got to the eliminations and they announced which couples would be safe to shimmy another day. The final three couples in jeopardy were Hope Solo and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, David Arquette and Kym Johnson and Anna Trebunskaya and Carson Kressley.
David and Kim in the bottom three was a surprise to me—they were not on my list. But in the end, as I predicted (and everyone else) Carson and Anna were eliminated. There were some boos and jeers from the audience. Disappointed? Yes. But, surprised? No. He had the lowest score the previous night. That’s how it’s supposed to work.
But we’re at the point in the competition when we need to start seeing a little technique—not just bouncing around like a floppy disk (oops!, sorry old reference). Fun is cute, but this is a dance competition.
Unfortunately, Carson will miss next week’s theme: Dancing to Broadway Tunes!
Until next week, keep on dancing!
