Oh Yes, It's '80s Night

Hi Everyone!
It was back to the ’80 on DWTS. The show began with a performance by the Bangles (they found them somewhere) singing some of their ’80s hits such as “Eternal Flame” and “Walk Like an Egyptian.”
On the fashion front, it was all about the 80s fashion—very costume-oriented. Big hair, shoulder pads, scrunchies and leg warmers. All the bad fashion choices we made back then—for those of us who still remember. (Horrid. Right?)
Now that the contestant count is getting lower, the stars are starting to get the feel of how this dancing thing works. So, a lot of the performances weren’t too bad.
But let’s start with the worst dance of the night: Carson Kressley’s Jive to Wham!’s “Wake Me Up Before You Go Go.” (For those not in the know, Wham! was the group that spawned George Michael’s career.) I knew when I heard what dance he was performing that this was going to be a disaster. And I was right. It was cheerleading. They should have picked Toni Basil’s, “Mickey.” Carson was funny, as usual, but he has to be in the bottom three. Probably going home. (Fun fact: Guess who was in the audience to cheer the celebs on? Richard Simmons.)

RickiLake’s Fox Trot to Phil Collins Phillip Bailey’s “Easy Lover” wasn’t her best. But it was good enough to keep her in the competition.
Rob Kardashian danced the sultry Rumba to Lionel Richie’s “Hello.” I was surprised—he did a good job. But the best line was when Len told him not to try splits—it could ruin his potential. I wonder if someone is writing these quips? The producers do see rehearsals. Just saying…

Chaz Bono did the Samba to Kool The Gang’s “Get Down On It.” He kept up with the rhythm and was not bad. He should still be safe….maybe.
Hope Solo, I’m still not a fan. She did a Tango to Bon Jovi’s “Living on a Prayer.” She’s still not feminine enough in her movement. But you couldn’t tell her, she thinks she’s all that and a bag of chips. Could be in the bottom.
Nancy Grace danced the Rumba to Spandau Ballet’s “True.” She did well, but I think she still might be in the bottom three. Also, I didn’t like her trying to crack on the way Len did the Twist. You can’t dog one of the old school pros on dancing.
David Arquette did a very good Tango to the song “Tainted Love” by Soft Cell. He’s starting to get the hang of this ballroom thing. He knows about keeping your hold position and not losing points from Len. Plus, he did a good impression of Len.

But the best dance of the night belonged to J.R. Martinez, of course. He had to go back and pull out that Latin background to shake up the dance floor with a great HOT! Samba routine to Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine’s “Conga.” Definitely not going home.

So, I think the celebrities in trouble are Carson, Nancy and Hope. If I had to guess, I’d say Carson is going home. Do you agree?
Until tomorrow, keep on dancing.
