This month, the world is all about skate with the launch of L.A.’s International Skateboard Film Festival and the wrap up of the recent Maloof Pro Skateboard Money Cup in South Africa.

New Jersey-born skate sensation Ishod Wair took home the championship title and $100,000 prize in Kimberley, South Africa this week, held at the new Maloof skatepark created by California Skateparks. South African Tommy Fynn took second at the event which has roused as much excitement as the World Cup.

The festival is dedicated solely to skateboarding and is open to filmmakers from around the globe. It features the best skate films, documentaries, shop videos and commercials that have helped shape the culture of skateboarding, chosen by the likes of Stacy Peralta, Craig Stecyk, Ed Templeton and other members of the Academy of Skateboard Filmmakers. To catch the latest skate films, fashions and tricks, check out the festival at The Downtown Independent Theater in Los Angeles or the Long Beach Art Theatre in Long Beach.
