Gerber Unveils New Version of AccuMark Software
The abilities to create sleeves more quickly and improve pleat gradings are just some of the features in the newest version of AccuMark by Gerber Technology.
AccuMark 8.5—which is a pattern design, grading and marker-making software system—has a number of new bells and whistles designed to improve productivity, simplify workflows and generate more-accurate material costs.
It also easier to integrate with Gerber’s YuniquePLM, a product lifecycle management software system.
AccuMark 8.5 has an easy way for users to specify customers’ order sizes and quantities by color and set maximum ply height and number of bundles. The system then plans the markers and generates the orders automatically to maximize material use.
And because the system supports fabric backgrounds, users can import fabric prints at actual scale, define repeats and use this information to match pattern pieces visually. Users can also enter fabric weight to calculate material costs more accurately.
In addition, AccuMark 8.5 has an expanded pattern-design function that lets users quickly create sleeves and create diamond- or rhombus-shaped darts. There is improved grading for pleats and darts and support for multiple turnback corners and foldings of pleats and darts.
With its integration with the YuniquePLM system, users don’t have to re-enter the same information on two systems.
Practical use
Recently, Gerber Technology sponsored an event in Mexico where 5,000 fashion-design students from 30 universities put their design, pattern-making and marker-making skills to use in a multi-phase competition.
The students competed against each other using AccuMark. The final event had the students creating a haute couture bridal gown.
“The success of Mexico’s apparel industry is founded on the strength of its educational institutions,” Jorge de Leon, manager of Gerber Technology’s operations in Mexico, said in a statement. “For the last three decades, Gerber Technology has supported the growth of the fashion and the apparel industries in Mexico by focusing on the continuing education of the industry’s youth.”
